The Do's and Don'ts of E-mail Marketing

What are effective marketing strategies? On one hand, it seems that it's best to get your name and information in front of every possible customer. On the other hand, strategic contacts will keep you from wasting time and money. A possible solution to this dilemma is e-mail marketing.

E-mail marketing is the extension and evolution of direct mail marketing. The underlying concept is to keep your customer base well informed of your actions, advancements and opportunities. E-mail marketing can be highly valuable, with the right attitude and knowledge. Without the right information, you'll become roadkill on the spam highway.

E-mail marketing has recently been viewed as an ineffective tool for network marketing. This is because of a lack of personalization and an overzealous marketing community. Many e-mail marketers don't know how to communicate to people. Whether this is a lack of people skills or just deficient education doesn't matter. E-mail accounts the world over are inundated with spam, and people are sick of it. The good thing is that if you know the keys to communication, you can still launch a successful network marketing campaign using e-mail marketing.

You need to make e-mails as personal as possible. No more statements begging for random strangers to look at your website. A great e-mail network marketing campaign inspires customers to ask themselves one simple question: What's in it for me? When you can get people to want or need your services, you have begun the task of launching a successful network marketing e-mail campaign.

If potential customers get e-mails that lead to sales pages that look tacky, they won't return. Make sure that your link leads people to enticing pages full of information, not pages full of questions. Give them important information about your business instead of phrases full of hype and false promises.

Also, consider the fact that spam penalties can seriously hurt your business and your reputation. The Can Spam Act requires you to clearly feature an opt-out option on all your commercial email, and you also have to include a valid physical address in every commercial e-mail you distribute.

When you are creating your e-mail campaign, consider the fact that deceptive subject lines and false or misleading headers are not just deceptive; they are also illegal. The penalties for such e-mail campaigns include cease and desist notices from the Federal Trade Commission or fines up to $11,000 per violation. In some instances, the worst offenders can even face jail time.

That being said, e-mail marketing can still be a viable and effective sales tool if it is used properly. Never send e-mail messages to a list of people you do not know that you purchased from someone else, for instance. If you use e-mail marketing to update current and previous customers on a new feature or benefit you offer, than your message is a welcome guest and your campaign stands a chance at success.

E-mail marketing is a strategy that must be fully understood before you venture into it. Once you know all the rules and regulations, you will be well on your way to informing your customers about the goods and services that you provide. A successful, informative and useful e-mail marketing campaign will certainly benefit your business if you execute it properly.

Guidelines For Writing Your Email Promotion

Email marketing takes on a prominent role in the face of online marketing. It is widely used by marketers wanting to succeed in their online businesses. The simple email is the mechanism by which marketers who are employing email marketing strategy will use to reach potential customers. Needless to say, before starting to write any email promotion, it is vital to sit down and plan the strategy for it.

Below are proven guidelines for writing your email promotion. The list is by no means exhaustive, but it can certainly contribute to your planning to roll out your email promotion confidently.

(1) What do you want your readers to do?

This is an important question that you must determine right from the start. What do you want your visitors to do? Sign up for your service? Subscribe to your newsletter? Purchase your product or service? You have to be distinctly clear on this, in order to get a definite and only one response to one request.

(2) What kind of benefits that your readers can get from responding?

Explain the benefits that readers can get from their responding to your call to action. In what ways can they fully benefit from their subscribing to your newsletter, their purchasing of your product or service, or their signing up for your service? Stressing the benefits is one of the vital guidelines for writing your email promotion effectively. Create good value and appeal in your offer that no reader can resist.

(3) How do you plan to create urgency in your offer?

The call to action statement should invoke readers to take immediate action. You can only achieve the desired result if there is urgency in your offer. Inclusion of urgency in your offer will definitely guide your readers to take action without any more delay. Examples would be : "The promotion will be available only for the next two days", "Free shipping only to the first 200 customers".

(4) What do you plan for the length of your copy to be?

The length of your copy should be decided only after you have listed and decided on what benefits to be included, and on which format you have decided for your presentation. A good effective copy is time-proven: it is usually written in letter-style, which appears more professional. If it is necessary to help deliver your message across, this is the length of your email. In ensuring that your emails do not look like ads, you have actually applied one of the important guidelines for writing email promotions.

(5) What do you plan to do with your links?

This area is of vital importance. Do not put the cart before the horse. You will have to present all the benefits and create the urgency in your offer first before you can put up your call to action (e.g "Click Here Now") with your link. Call to action and link should not appear too early in your email, unless you are thinking of offering free gifts.

(6) What sort of audience do you want to target?

This question relates to who do you want to write your email promotions to. Will you be writing only to customers who have purchased your product or service or to all of your customers? Or even to only those who subscribe to your newsletter? Providing a personalized touch through your letter is indeed one of the more important guidelines for writing your email promotion powerfully. This will bring you closer to your customers. For instance, you can write: "Tony, thanks for your subscription!".

(7) What do you plan to identify yourself in your email promotion?

In writing your emails, make known yourself. Readers need to know that they are reading the promotions as originating from the same writer throughout, and a real person for that matter. They tend to identify with the same writer. Therefore, it is vital to retain the same voice for all of your email promotions, and with a personal touch.

(8) How do you plan to arrange for interactive communication?

Readers and customers may want to reach you in case of need. What contact information should you give them? Do not risk your credibility. Always allow readers and customers to contact you easily by providing them with your email address and phone number. Additionally, it would be good to include a valid postal address, as this will avoid the issue of spamming.

(9) What plans have you made to include more benefits?

Your email promotion may have listed all the benefits, urgency created in the offer, and a call to action is being executed. Still it is a fact that readers may just scroll down to the last line to make their decisions there and then. One of the effective guidelines to writing your email promotions powerfully is to include a postscript that should preferably restate the main benefits of your offer or reveal a new and fantastic bonus benefit. This postscript must also include and emphasize your call to action.

Writing email promotions require some serious thinking on how to map out your offer. Always ensure that all required information and details about the offer that you intend to make has been sufficiently collected. This is in effect writing out the formula that will eventually bring success to your email promotion campaign.

5 Ways to Safely Collect Email Addresses For Email Marketing Campaigns

5 Ways to Safely Collect Email Addresses for Email Marketing Campaigns

Email Marketing Campaigns is one of the low-cost and most effective ways to target an audience. Using email to target an already interested audience will not only drive your marketing costs, but can be done very quickly and easily.

Collecting Email Addresses

1. Passive Sheet Method - If you are hosting breakfast or luncheon, pass around a sheet with a few questions and politely ask for an email address for future contact. This works well because your audience would be very qualified to receive your newsletter and each person that signs up will feel like they have a "special connection."

2. Signup Box - This method works best for shops, stands, and restaurants. You need an offer to advertise to your customer that will get them to give you their email address. Recently, I saw an ice cream shop offering, "FREE Ice Cream for you and 5 friends." I actually signed up for this "contest," and though I did not win, I am now apart of the "Ice Cream Club" and I receive an email every 3-4 weeks with the shop's specials and ice cream news and facts.

3. Surveys - Collecting an email address through a survey is great, but getting people to do the survey can be very difficult. This is not my preferred method for email collections because it will not yield a high quantity of email addresses and is intensive. However, if you are already doing a survey; why not ask for their email address?

4. Email Newsletter Signup - This involves setting up an email signup box on your website, preferably on multiple pages, and using a snippet of code that your email delivery provider gives to collect email addresses. You can even segment your signups and then later target them based on what they have chosen to signup for. For example, if your user is interested in cruises and not hotels, then your will be able to target that person with a cruise newsletter and leave out hotels. Thus, effectively targeting what the user has pre-selected and potentially increasing your future open rates and conversions rates.
This is by far my favorite way for collecting email addresses. It is very cost effective, simple, and requires little to almost no maintenance.

5. Email Signup Button - This is similar to adding the Newsletter Signup on your website, except you incorporate the function into your email signature. This works well for companies that are always working with many new customers through email who might not visit your website, but also gives a chance for clients that are familiar with you, the added option of signing up.

Always using common sense when collecting email addresses and by taking the necessary steps will allow you to properly grow your email campaign list as well as your growing your email campaign. This will save time and money in the long run.

Email Marketing Secrets - 3 Secrets to Create Predictable Cash Windfalls!

Perhaps the number one reason why people fail in email marketing is because of a lack of proper coaching and training. You need the right information in this business to make real profits online.

If you are not creating success in your email marketing campaigns, then I urge you to read on. I'm about to reveal 3 secrets to creating predictable cash windfalls with your mailing list:

1) Create Free Reports. Send them to your list and give them distribution rights to distribute the report for free. Even better, give them re-brandable rights and allow them to re-brand the report with their own affiliate links. This will a viral traffic explosion that never stops and it helps build your list faster!

2) Send Valuable Content. This ties along with the first secret. You must send valuable content to your list regularly instead of constantly promoting the latest launch of the week. Articles, free reports (as above), free videos, free audios and free membership sites are just forms of high-value content you can give away to your subscribers to cultivate hyper responsiveness.

3) Promote High ROI Products. Promote products that give your subscribers a high return on investment. Only recommend products that will over-deliver for the price they sell at. If you do this, your subscribers will keep on snapping up anything you recommend! (of course, it has to be of a high quality). Also, you must keep the theme of the products in tune with the theme of your list to get the best response.

10 Email Marketing Strategies to Dramatically Increase Your Sales

Email marketing is one of the most profitable strategies available to the online entrepreneur (and offline business owners, too).

Consider this: About 99% of your website visitors will leave without buying anything from you on their first visit. But by creating a great opt-in offer you can at least get their contact details -- and then use email marketing to follow up, build relationships, and turn them into paying customers.

And email marketing is by far the BEST and CHEAPEST way to stay in touch with your customers and build rock-solid relationships with them -- so they'll buy from you again and again! (This is called the "lifetime value" of your customers, and it's extremely profitable.)

Email marketing just plain works! Just take a look at these statistics from PostFuture:

  • There are now more than 1 BILLION Internet users worldwide -- and 90% of them use email.
  • 70% of users receive opt-in email from online businesses.
  • 82% of online buyers have made at least one purchase in response to an email promotion.
  • 32% have made an immediate online purchase in response to an email.

With numbers like these, you can understand why I'm always stunned to hear about a business that STILL hasn't started to take advantage of email marketing strategies.

If you're stuck for ideas on how to use email marketing to ramp up your profits, here are 10 proven email marketing strategies to get you started...

Email marketing strategy #1: Develop relationships and establish credibility by offering free information

Sending your subscribers valuable, free information -- such as an authoritative eBook -- will help them get to know and trust you. Once you've established your credibility, you dramatically increase your chances of converting subscribers into lifelong customers.

You can offer anything from a free report to a free trial version of software... whatever you think your subscribers would like!

Email marketing strategy #2: Encourage repeat visits by announcing regular specials

Once you've started collecting email addresses, you can send your customers and subscribers regular updates letting them know what your specials are. Sending regular discount offers is a great way to get your customers familiar with you and your site -- and turn them into regulars who will buy from you again and again.

Email marketing strategy #3: Host "Customer Only" events

Suppose you own a restaurant, and you've been collecting your customers' email addresses. You could send each of them an email invitation to an exclusive wine-tasting evening for regular diners only. Rewards like this are one of the best ways to capitalize on the lifetime value of your customers.

If you own an online business, you can set up a special page on your site that is accessible only to customers -- and then send them an email telling them how to take advantage of the specials you advertise on that page.

Email marketing strategy #4: Include promotions in appointment reminders

If you are running a service business, as opposed to a retail business, you can still capitalize on the power of email marketing by sending appointment reminders to your clients.

If you're a karate teacher, for example, you could send your new clients an email three days before their first lesson, reminding them where you are located and when they need to arrive. In that same message, you could include a coupon that offers them 25% off their lessons if they bring a friend to enroll as well!

Email marketing strategy #5: Follow up with your hottest leads

You can use email to follow up with people you have spoken with personally, but who have not made a purchase. Offer to answer any additional questions they may have, and let them know that you are available to speak with them at their convenience. This can dramatically increase your chances of closing a sale by providing your leads with extra information they're not expecting.

Email marketing strategy #6: Offer electronic "loyalty coupons"

This is a great way to get your existing customers to buy from you again and again. Simply send each of your customers a coupon that they can print and bring with them into your store or use on your website. It is always a good idea to make your coupons valid for a limited time only to motivate your customers to make a purchase from you as soon as possible.

Email marketing strategy #7: Send follow-up offers to your customers

Follow-up offers are one of the most powerful ways to build a profitable business. because they build on the trust you've established to close the initial sale -- and turn first-time buyers into regular customers.

How profitable can follow-up email be? My team once sent our customers a follow-up email introducing them to a product that we thought they might like. The entire process of writing the email and sending it out took about 20 minutes -- and the result was a direct profit of $74,000!

Email marketing strategy #8: Encourage "Send to a Friend" referrals

Email is a great way to encourage referrals because it's easy for people to forward messages to their families, friends, and coworkers. Make sure every newsletter, offer, or eBook you send to your subscribers reminds them that they can forward your message to anyone they think might be interested.

You could even run a promotion that gives your existing customers something for free every time they personally refer a new customer to you.

Email marketing strategy #9: Deliver your product electronically

Suppose you've written a book and you're currently selling paperback copies through your site for $29 each. By creating a digital version of your book -- which is WAY easier than you're probably thinking -- you can simply email it to your customers.

And since you won't have to worry about things like printing costs, warehousing, packaging, and delivery, you can DRAMATICALLY increase your profit margin!

Email marketing strategy #10: Use email to sell your knowledge and create recurring revenue

If you are an expert on a particular topic -- and just about everyone is -- then you've got a successful business based on a paid-subscription newsletter waiting to be born.

Of course there are tons of other email marketing strategies you can put to use. And once you realize just how easy it is to use it to drive sales, you'll be thinking of all kinds of new strategies yourself!

Understand the Pros and Cons of Email Marketing

Even though email marketing is not a new concept many internet marketers still do not do it! I wonder why that is? Here are some facts about email marketing that you will want to know in order to make your business grow.

Very simply put the cons of not doing email marketing are a potential disaster for your business. If you have spent any time trying to get visitors to your website, you know how difficult it can be.

Once you get a visitor to your website they are going to leave in a matter of seconds or minutes. Your goal is to get a positive response from their visit.

In reality the best thing you can do is get them to fill out an opt-in form to your email marketing list. The pros of doing this is you will then have their name and email address to follow up with over and over in the future.

A subscriber to your mailing list can be worth several thousand dollars to you in future business revenue. You can probably quickly understand the cons of not doing this.

If you are sending visitors to a website and not capturing their contact information you are wasting literally a fortune in potential revenue. A person is not going to hear from you in the future unless they bookmark your site and they will never come back to it.

Therefore the time and money that you are spending to attract visitors to your site in reality is going to waste. Can you really afford to lose this kind of money?

Another benefit of email marketing is building your own list is very easy to do. All you do is add a sign up form to your website were people can find.

Then offer something of value that would make them want to give you their name and email address. What you're doing is trading their contact information for something that you have is worthwhile to them.

As you begin to build your list keeping in touch with it becomes extremely important. If you don't do that you're really building the list for no reason.

Today auto responders make email marketing very easy to do. You just type 1 message and click submit. It will then be sent to everyone on your list.

In summary, the pros and cons of email marketing are very simple to understand. Building a marketing list is an asset for your future. The downside to not having one is not worth risking.

How Do Spammers Obtain Email Addresses?

Email technology is a good and useful tool for personal and business communications. However, it is being hijacked and tarnished by unscrupulous criminals called spammers. Most people in the world enjoy an email account or two. What people do not like is getting email messages that they do not want or need. This includes spam email of course, but for many people it also includes messages forward from friends and family; things like chain letters and jokes you have read a million times already. Spammers take advantage of careless email users who do not use common sense when emailing. The best way to stay spam free is to only give your email to those close to you.

This often backfires however, when your sister-in-law forwards something to you and includes all of her email contacts in the message. Invariably someone will cc someone else who decides to harvest your email to send you spam offers. Novice email users do not realize that their email clients automatically add people to whom they reply to their address book. This means that when your sister-in-law adds her entire email address list to a forwarded message, some of those who receive the email are spammers to whom she has fallen prey.

Separating business and personal emails is a good idea. In business, you will get a lot of spam from business related newsletters for which you sign up. It is pretty much inevitable that you'll eventually get spam to a business account. Many spammers target company address with a dictionary attack, adding all the names ever given to the front part of a company address. Invariably there is a bill@yourcompany.com at your company. Most people want to use email addresses that they remember easily, but it might be a good idea to make them a little more difficult to guess what they are. Add some numbers to the mix and many dictionary attacks will fail.

Posting your email address on a website is a surefire way to get spam. If you have a domain name, you typically have an email address posted somewhere if you want people to reach you via email. There are some handy email obfuscators available that convert your email address to html code. The email will work when clicked, but will not be noticed by the harvesting bots rummaging through your site. Contact web forms can also help eliminate company email addresses getting harvested. Your email is also listed during a who is look-up for your domain. Some domain hosting companies now offer private registration so you don't have to expose your email to the outside world. If someone needs to get a hold of you through your who is record, the hosting company will forward it to you if it seems legitimate.

The fastest way to get spam emails is to accidentally open or respond to a spam email. This will verify to the spammer that your email address is legitimate. It is difficult to tell sometimes who sent an email or where it came from. Spammers will use images to track the message to see if it is open. Even looking at the message in a preview pane will make a trackable image request back to the spammers sever. Once they verify your address is real, they will send you tons more spam, and worse yet, sell your verified email to all their spamming friends.

So what is a soul to do to prevent all this spam? There are several things you can do to eliminate, or at least minimize the dangers. - Separate your real email address from ones you use to sign up for things on the Internet. Only give this email address to close friends or relatives who understand that you don't want to get junk forwarded to you every time they get something forwarded to them.

  • Set up a sign up address. This is an address that you use to sign up for offers, newletters, bank accounts, travel sites, and newsletters. Eventually, you may start getting junk to this folder, but if you are careful about the places where you sign up, you can track down and tell where the problem originated and can appeal to the perpetrator to cease. If they do not you may have to report them to a black hole list service or complain to their ISP.
  • Set up some additional throw away accounts. These are email accounts for sites where you want to get information for which you have to register, but you know that by registering, you are going to get a bunch of junk. Using this type of address will let you sign up and get the information you need and then move on. You can ignore the account until you need to sign up for something else.
  • Turn off the preview pane in your email client. Most of the time you can tell when a message is spam by the from address or the subject line. If you have the preview pane open however, you may end up landing on a spam email and notifying them of the fact that you are a valid address. By keeping the preview pane closed you will be able to delete all the spammy email before you start reading the valid email you receive.

Never buy from a spammer. It only takes one person to purchase a spam product and perpetuate the cycle. The only way the Internet community will stop spam is to make it unprofitable. There are many ideas about how to stop spam, none of which have been widely adopted or implemented. It will still be a few years before a comprehensive solution is agreed upon. In the meantime, you will need to protect yourself from spam as best you can by adopting the previously cited steps.

Opt-In Email Marketing - The Best Way to Market Products

Email marketing has become the indispensable launch pad of all companies, which are fast realising its importance and quickness. The advent of email has changed the whole concept of marketing products and services.

Opt-in email marketing is a kind of email marketing wherein the website owner is given permission by the internet user to send email newsletters to his or her mail ID. When a person subscribes to your website content, providing his or her email address, it means you have obtained his or her consent to send him or her your newsletters.

It must be noted that unless it is mentioned otherwise in your subscriber box, the webmaster is not given any authorisation by the subscriber to use his or her email address in any other way. It may involve making use of it for an email newsletter list for another website newsletter and selling the email address to another webmaster.

Opt-in email marketing is the best form of email marketing because it ensures that a business knows and understands its customers well and customers are also familiar with the company's policies and products. In short, it facilitates effective communication between the company and its customers.

Whether it is a cosmetic agency, a retailer, or a publisher opt-in email marketing can help them all in promoting their products and increasing their customer base. They can send promotional newsletters, write-ups, latest services, and event invitations to their customers. Here, you are sending a lot of information about your company to customers who have already consented to receiving it. Thus, a customer visits a website with pre-set mind and this way he or she is most likely to buy a product or service.

Opt-in email marketing has many benefits. It allows you to reach specific customers who have willingly provided their email addresses to get information on certain topics. It helps you know how many people received your messages, how many of them opened the messages, and how many of them visited your website.

It helps you check within 24 hours the traffic that has been directed to your website. It prevents spamming because list owners possess time and date stamp verification concerning all recipients.

How to Write Emails That Get Attention

Whatever business you are in the time will come when you will need to send a 'sales' email. By this I mean an email that is aiming to nurture a sale, be it a product or service that you are marketing.

There are some key factors to making your emails effective. Let me touch on a couple now...

* Key 1. Choosing the right Subject Heading is vital.

The reason the Subject Heading is so important is for a couple of reasons:

a) Your Subject Heading needs to grab people's attention and enthuse them to want to open and read your email.
b) The wording of your Subject Heading can be key in your emails ability to get through spam filters. Write the wrong Subject Heading and spam filters will eat your email alive!

So, what should you look for in writing a good Subject Heading?

Firstly, personalise all the time you can. By this I mean add the person's first name to the Subject Heading. This gives your email a personal feel and tells the spam filters that you know the person you're writing to so it's much less likely to be flagged as spam.

As an example:

-'John, you really need to take a look at this'
-'For a limited period I can offer you this, John'
-'John, I think you will find this very interesting'

* Key 2. Always personalise the opening greeting with the person who you are writing to's name. Again, as an example 'Hi John'.

I recognise personalising individual emails is no problem, but what if you are sending out a lot of emails to a lot of people, obviously all with different names? Then you need to make a small investment in subscribing to an automated mailing programme.

One company I'd highly recommend for ease of use and professional yet simple functionality, is Aweber - it's the company that many internet professionals use. Aweber allows you to easily add or import a list of the details of all your contacts ie first name, last name, email, etc, and then write one email which you then send to your list and, using this software, it will personalise all your emails.

* Key 3: Make your emails easy to read:

Try to keep your paragraphs to a maximum of 4 or 5 lines, to make reading the email easy on the eyes, and not so scary when people quickly scroll it.

If your email is full of big blocks of text, your recipient will simple close it and move on.

And key points should be made on single lines, in their own paragraph.

* Key 4: Write your 'Sales Copy' as you speak:

'Sales Copy' is the term used to describe the text in your email that is aiming to encourage a sale.

People like to do business with people they know, so write your emails in an informal (yet professional) way, writing as you would speak.

Yes, I know your English teacher would have a heart-attack over the poor use of grammar but you are not writing a literary epic, you are writing to motivate someone towards a sale. So write to them in a way that suggests you are a friend or colleague.

We have only just touched the surface on writing powerful, effective emails. I will cover more in future articles.

Successful Emails - 6 Secrets to Make Them Sensational

During a new project call, today, a client asked for my advice on which was better, telemarketing or email, for finding new prospects.

My basic answer is that the telephone is overall more high-touch and more reliable. However, email, when done correctly can be effective. I didn't say *as* reliable or *as* effective but it can be a wonderful secondary form of air cover.

So that begs the question -- what makes a successful email?

At a high level, here are the six secrets to what makes a successful email. Notice, I didn't say "good" or "well-written" or "pleasant" or "graphically appealing" email -- I said *successful*. (I don't have time to go into the other components of an email campaign, so, for now, I'll cover the email itself.)

* Subject line with a great offer: If the email reaches the target, you have only a few seconds to get them to open the email; make sure the subject line jumps out at them by including a great offer. Another way of looking at this? "Don't be ashamed of bribing people."

* Headline w/great offer: Once people open your email and view your headline, you have another 3 seconds during which they decide whether to read the rest of the email or hit 'junk' or 'delete'. Make sure the headline captures their attention and again tells them about your wonderful offer.

* Content: Short and sweet and to the point: That's it. Don't write the great American novel. This is about time - and how much they can/will give to an email message, during their busy day.

* Single objective: Don't try to sell them anything; don't try to get them to do *several* things. You have one objective and one only -- You want them to go to a landing page or whatever the next step is. The landing page structure is a whole different animal - but my single objective advice is to focus on email effectiveness, for now.

* Contact: Make sure to give them various ways to connect with you including landing page, click to call, phone number, email, etc.

* Remind them of the offer: Again make the offer very enticing and remind them at least *three* times in the email about what they get if they respond. I also find that images of your offer works great, too (ex: If you give them a gift card for meeting with you, then use the image of a gift card, etc.).

There are other points of advice regarding email communication, of course, but my organization has found that these are the main secrets to our online success.

Just a little warning -- when we do emails I run into a lot of resistance from vendors who might be paying for these (our/your) marketing activities. As we develop marketing campaigns for these vendors, we must have all emails meet with their approval. Depending, of course, on your vendor client, they may try to water down the effectiveness of your email. That's your challenge.

Ten Tips For Mass Email Marketing Success

A bulk email marketing campaign is one of the cheapest ways that a business can use to market their product to new consumers. If done correctly you can make allot of money from email marketing. Here are some easy steps to mass email marketing success.

1. Send out targeted emails: Sending out millions of emails to people who aren't interested in your product is called spamming. By narrowly targeting your customers you will increase your sales and decrease the chances of spam blocking software, blocking your emails.

2. Allow customers to unsubscribe: By allowing your customers to unsubscribe you increase your credibility, which will translate into better sales.

3. Sell the right stuff: Classically affiliate sales of digital goods do the best. An examples of this would be downloadable e-books. You can join Clickbank and start selling these today.

4. Pick the right Software: Picking the right mass email software is critical to succeeding. The software must be easy to use and generate reports which you can use to improve your campaign. For detailed help on picking the right software click on the link at the bottom of this article.

5. Have a clear call to action: Frequently email marketers create a beautifully designed and written email, but forget to lay out a clear path for the customer. Then the customer doesn't know which action to take.

6. Capitalize on brand awareness: Every email should clearly display your brand. This is important when it comes to repeat sales and brand loyalty.

7. Put the best first: If you have multiple offerings in an email, put the best one at the top. This decreases the chance that they will stop reading, before getting to the good stuff.

8. Reward customers for doing what you want: Buy X and get a free Y with your purchase. Y can also be a lottery for instance, stand a chance to win a trip to Disney Land.

9. Work your database: Your databases is your greatest asset, put time into growing them and keeping them tidy. For instance remove duplicate emails, dead email addresses and people who have opted out.

10. If at first you don't succeed try try again: You will most likely have failures, particularly in the beginning. Learn from them and get better at it over time.

How to Create a Distribution List in Outlook and Using Blind Carbon Copy

Do you send email to the same people over and over again? Instead of typing out the recipient's names, create a distribution list.
Go to File

Click New

Click Distribution List
The Distribution List window will open up.
Give a name to the list, then press "Select Members".
The Select Members window will open up.
Double Click on the names you wish to add.

After the contacts have been added to the members field click OK.
This will close the Select Members window.
If you wish to add someone who is not on your contact list:
Press "Add New" in the distribution list window.
The Add New Member window will open.
Enter the name of new member in the Display Name field.

Enter the e-mail address of the new member in the E-mail Address field.

Press OK and the new member will be added to your Distribution List.

Save and Close the Distribution List window.
When you want to e-mail this group just type in the name of the List rather than each recipients name.

Now that you understand how to create a distribution list you should understand "Bcc" or Blind Carbon Copy.

"Bcc" allows you to send an e-mail without showing everyone the e-mail address of the recipients. It also is the polite thing to do. This way you're not inadvertently sharing a person's e-mail with a group of people they may not know, by including them in a mass email. You can also use the "Bcc" field to quietly notify a third party that a message has been sent.

Use of "Bcc" for long lists of addresses is important for two reasons:
It protects the privacy of those to whom you send a message, and
It makes forwarded e-mail less confusing to read
When using "Bcc" add your own e-mail in the To: field to ensure yours is the only address shown.

All e-mail programs support "Bcc", but it may not be the default option.
In Outlook 2007, click "New" for a new e-mail, then under the Options Tab click the "Show Bcc" button
In Outlook 2003, click "New" for a new e-mail, then click the little down arrow to the right of "Options" and select "Bcc".
Once selected, "Bcc" will be available for all new e-mails.

Here are some suggestions for using the different fields when sending e-mail.
To: Add recipients who you are directly communicating with. There is nothing wrong with a list of e-mails, as long as there is no problem with each recipient being able to see the other recipient's e-mail address
Cc: Known as Carbon Copy. Use "Cc": to send a copy of the e-mail to recipients not required to participate in the communication. It allows the To: recipients to known that someone else is also receiving the e-mail
Bcc: Blind Carbon Copy is where you put e-mail addresses that should not be seen by other recipients.

Email Marketing Secrets - The Psychology of Powerful Email Marketing Revealed

The process of successful email marketing is tied into psychology, understanding what your market wants and giving them precisely that. To be a master of Internet sales, you need to be a master of human psychology. This will help you craft better emails that your subscribers can resonate with.

The first issue of successful email marketing is that you have to build up that credibility with your list first. You have to show them that you an authority and not just a sales man. You can do this by sending them valuable free content in the shape of articles or free reports and white papers. Nobody likes to be pitched too constantly, and everyone loves receiving valuable free content on a regular basis.

So how do you write magical emails that your subscribers respond to? Apart from attaining credibility, there are a few other factors. First, you have to grab their attention. This is achieved by writing a curiosity-inciting subject line that has a major benefit. Then you have to stimulate interest in your prospect in your email copy. Again, this is done by listing benefits, either subtly or to the point. You then increase desire by asking your prospects to imagine how much better their life would be if they bought your product (if it's a promotional email) or if they applied your information. The last step is to call your subscribers to action. Get them to take the action you want them to (download your report, buy your product, subscribe to a membership site etc).

Email Marketing Secrets - How to Craft Sales Exploding Emails in Under 15 Minutes

If you want to write emails that sell and sell like crazy, you need to create trust and a relationship with the subscribers on your list. Yes, it is important to include personalization in your emails, by including your subscribers' first name in the subject line and copy, but aside that from that, you also need to write your emails in a personal manner.

One way to make your email sound more personal is to always emphasize the word 'you'. This is a crafty little trick to get your subscribers to pay attention to you, because you are talking to them and discussing their needs and wants. You are focusing your efforts on them, so they will want to focus on you. Always talk about your subscribers' needs and wants, rather than yourself if you want email marketing success.

Another tactic to make sure your emails sound personal is to write your email as if they written to one individual alone. You can do this by imagining you are writing an email to a friend or a family member, then take it from there. You don't want your subscribers to know that you are sending out a mass commercial mailing to your list. You want your subscribers to feel as if you have written your emails specifically to them. So the voice and tone of your email has to be personal in nature to achieve this effect. When you use these strategies, your email response rates will just explode through the roof!

Opt in Email Marketing - Autopilot Money Secret Revealed

Warning: This is not the typical write up you have seen about opt in email marketing. This article is going to give you a secret that is so simple and easy to implement that you will kick yourself that you have not used it before.

This secret strategy is different because you will learn how to make money from people who unsubscribe from your list. Obviously it is better to have someone stay on your list than to unsubscribe but if they are going to unsubscribe then why not make money from them since you will most likely never have contact with them again.

Few people are using this tactic even though it is so easy. As a matter of fact very few so called experts are using it. Who knows why, what matters is that you are going to see how easy it really is.

The best part about this method is that it will not cost a penny to put into place and it takes anywhere from one to ten minutes to setup.

The strategy is quite simple. Autoresponders typically send someone to a default page when they unsubscribe - usually a page that has info about the autoresponder and some type of message that says something like, "sorry to see you go".

If you are using opt in email marketing then you have to have an autoresponder, there is no way around it. Most marketers do not realize that all of the good autoresponders allow you to can put in a custom URL to send the subscriber to when they unsubscribe. And this is where the secret lies.

All you have to do is put a use a URL that is either an affiliate link for a product in your niche or use a URL that goes to a page that has AdSense ads above the fold of the page.

If you really want to see long lasting results choose a product that pays monthly affiliate commissions.

Obviously you are not going to get hundreds of people per day seeing this be every single person who unsubscribes from your list will see the offer or your page with the AdSense ads which will result in profits that you would not have made otherwise.

If you are going to have unsubscribers, and you definitely are, there is no way around it, you might as well make money off of them.

You just got a free lesson in one of the easiest ways to make money online. What could be easier than making money on autopilot from people who unsubscribe from your list. If you are not doing this then you are leaving easy money on the table.

Email Marketing With PermissionEmail Marketing With Permission

Email marketing is part of a trend known as permission marketing. This essentially means that customers have given their permission to allow the business owner to market to them directly.

Email marketing is a direct pitch that encourages potential customers to take the next step in your cyber relationship. The email encourages them to make a purchase and will likely give several plausible reasons why a purchase may be beneficial and even desirable.

Other permission marketing ideas include free site memberships, ezines and ecourses. Let's take a look at each of these.

Free site membership - This can be online access to information or to interact with like-minded consumers. The consumer will need to view the membership as something worthwhile so you may seek to provide free gifts (a free sample, report or even an ebook) when customers sign up.

Ezines - These are regularly updated and are infused with meaningful and helpful content. This information is to be considered valuable to customers while resisting the urge to pander to the weak-willed.

Ecourses - These should be well-developed information that may read a bit like chapters in an ebook. You can, in fact, work to develop these courses into an ebook for other marketing prospects. The customer should come away from reading these reports or ecourses with the feeling that the inside information they received will either make them money or make them very proficient at using the product they have either purchased or may purchase in the future.

Many times the products sold have multiple uses. Your exploration of those uses in a free report can allow consumers to truly envision the total value of the product they purchased. Too often business owners simply allow consumers to figure it out on their own. A proactive approach using permission marketing can go a long way in establishing brand, instilling trust and motivating the consumer.

Email marketing should only be used with permission. Refuse the idea of blasting individuals who have never given you permission to contact them. This often results in hostility as well as reports of spam abuse.

When any of these permission-marketing strategies are used they should be infused with the belief that the trust between you and the consumer is sacrosanct and any violation of their trust will likely result in a lost customer and an angry advertiser.

What I mean by an "angry advertiser" is that this consumer will have no problem advertising for you, but it will not be advertising you want or need. It will be easy for this individual to recount the real or perceived violations of their trust. When you choose permission marketing you should only submit marketing material to those who have given you permission to do so. Make this a hard and fast policy now and resist the temptation to deviate from this directive.

"Permission" at its very core presents the idea of trust. The consumer presents enough trust to see if you will deliver on a promise where money is not involved. If you can be trusted to manage consumable information you may find that your diligence may result in paid orders from those who learn you can be trusted.
